Raven Ridge Staff
Raymond C. Pilcher, President, I have devoted most of my 40 year career to energy project development and management in the fields of coalbed methane (CBM) and coal mine methane (CMM), underground coal gasification (UCG), and other energy and mineral resources. Because of my long career and my good fortune to have had so many opportunities to work in many international settings, I am member of a community of specialists and experts who devote their efforts to producing and utilizing CBM and CMM and other energy resources in an environmentally sensitive and sustainable manner. My goal for every development project is to create value for the developer, the government of the host country, and the local community. As president of Raven Ridge Resources, Incorporated, my responsibilities comprise corporate and strategic planning, as well development of new business and project opportunities. I have authored and have been a co-author of numerous published reports and papers concerning coalbed methane and coal mine methane resource evaluation, economics, policy, and marketing. My international experience includes projects undertaken in North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Australia-Pacific, and Africa.
I provide leadership for projects conducted by government and private sector clients looking to assess, evaluate, and explore for and develop coal related methane deposits and other energy resources. I have led contract work with EPA’s Climate Change Division over the last 25 years in efforts to reduce emissions of methane from coal mining. This work extends from site specific work to broader country-level resource studies and international policy. I encourage safe and environmentally responsible coal mine methane project development worldwide and serve the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe as the Chair of the Group of Experts on Coal Mine Methane and as the Vice Chair of the Committee on Sustainable Energy. I was recently appointed to a four year term as an expert for the newly formed UNECE International Center of Excellence on CMM in China.
I am member of the faculty of the Greenhouse Gas Management Institute and am licensed as a Professional Geologist, #1602, in the State of Texas.
